| WHAT IS THE FUNDRAISING
COMMITMENT? Each
participant agrees to a minimum $50 fundraising pledge. (this is separate
from the registration fee) Example: for a family of 4 registering, the minimum fundraising
commitment total as a family would be $200.
Let's think BIG and creatively on how much we each can raise for this event and help bring
clean water to those in need. Water is essential to life, and worth our efforts! |
| HOW DO I ASK FOR DONATIONS? Not exactly sure what to say, and how to ask for donations? Well, there is no
right or wrong way!
The KEY is to ASK, otherwise the answer is always no!
Here is just one example to give you a place to start:
- If you are talking to someone you do not know, introduce yourself and
share something about yourself they may be interested in knowing. For example, a
mutual relationship with another person, or the (niece, nephew, daughter, son, etc
)
of someone they know, where you live, etc. You could say: "Hi, my name is Joe
Smith, I am Mary Johnsons friend and I live in this neighborhood, too.
- Then, share with them what you are doing: Can
I talk to you about something that I'm excited to be helping with? It's called Hannah's
Hundreds. Hannah was a 13yr old girl who died in September of 2007 in a horseback riding
accident, but she had a Big Dream that now I want to help make come true. So I'm raising
money to dig a well for clean water in Africa. Could you please help me make Hannah's
Dream come true?
- Then immediately show them the Sponsor Me personalized flyer. When they say "Yes, I'll help you" Give them a big smile, look
them straight in the eyes and say Thank You with enthusiasm as you hand them

|
| WHAT SHOULD I DO AS I ACCEPT DONATIONS? As you are collecting donations, you will want to keep a written record of
them. Use our Donation
Collection Form to do this quickly and conveniently. Once
you have collected all your offline donations (personal or cashiers checks & cash) and
documented them on the donation collection form, please mail donation form and
checks to: |
Hannah's Hundreds
ATTN: O Form
PO BOX 367
Milaca, MN 56353 |
DO NOT SEND CASH IN THE MAIL |
| Note:
Please make a copy of your completed donation collection form for your own records
too! |
| WHO SHOULD I HAVE PEOPLE WRITE THEIR CHECKS
TO? All checks should be made payable to WORLD
VISION. Be sure 'Hannah's Hundreds' is written on the
memo line. |
ARE DONATIONS TAX-DEDUCTIBLE?
- YES!! Donations to World Vision are 100% tax-deductible. All funds
raised by each participant will go directly to World Vision towards
a well for clean water as part of fulfilling Hannah's vision. Receipts will be
mailed by email from World Vision for online donations, and mail for personal checks. Cash
donations will not receive a receipt.
- Although the Bike-A-Thon's purpose is to raise funds for a well of clean water, some people may want to donate to
Hannah's Hundreds also to support the operating expenses. Those donations are not
tax-deductible at this time, since we are still in the process of obtaining 501 3c
non-profit status. Checks should be made payable to "Hannah's Hundreds"
, with 'general fund' written in the memo. They can be mailed directly to: Hannah's
Hundreds PO BOX 367 Milaca, MN 56353

WHAT ABOUT ONLINE DONATIONS?
- Have your contributors click on 'DONATE' at the top of this
page. Use the link to Firstgiving for your secure transaction. These funds go
directly to World Vision, attributed to Hannah's Hundreds.
- For fundraising, tell your contributors/donors to write YOUR
first and last name in the COMMENT section on the Firstgiving page of their
donation!
|
WHAT SHOULD I DO WITH THE CA$H
DONATIONS I RECEIVE?
- For all cash donations, be sure to fill in the AMOUNT section of your
donation collection form immediately, as
it can become hard to remember exactly how much was given by each donor when you are
getting donations from many people. Please remember the cause we are all working for is
deserving of our best efforts and all of our integrity.
- World Vision will send a tax deductible receipt ONLY to the person
listed on the personal check, money order or cashier's check. Cash donors will not receive
a receipt from World Vision.
- Any cash donations you receive will need to be turned into either a
money order, cashier's check, or a personal check from you, made payable to WORLD
VISION with 'Hannah's Hundreds' written on the memo
line.
